We arrived late in the afternoon at the terminal
in Caceres, Extremadura Spain after an almost

six hours scenic bus ride from Lisbon, Portugal. 

 

We took a taxi to Encanto Apartamentos Turisticos,

 

...located at the peaceful Calle Muñoz Chaves,

…right at the heart of the old town of Caceres,

probably one of the oldest towns in the world.

This would be our home for the next five days,

at the third stop of our European spring vacation.

Stay

I couldn’t find a hotel room for a family of four in Caceres,  so 
I reluctantly booked an available apartment thru booking.com. 
Encanto Apartamentos Turisticos  is a self service apartment 
set on renovated17th-century building, in Cáceres’ old town,

…just few steps away from Plaza Mayor.

 

Ours was a two bedroom apartment, called La Boveda

  

...and we were awed by the restored

ancient vaulted ceiling at the stairway.

 

The steep winding stairway may cause inconvenience

to the elderly guests and specially those with disability, 

 

...but for my young children, the ancient  brick lined
vaulted stairway created an awesome prelude 

 

....and an added excitement to what lies 
ahead on this grand tunnel- like entrance.

 

On the entryway was a spacious dining room,

 

 

…and a well equipped Moorish inspired kitchen,

 

…that had everything what we needed.

 

 

 

A modern electric stove,

 

… a huge microwave oven,

 

…a large refrigerator, 

 

... a dish drier,

 

…a complete set of dining,

 

 

 

…and cooking utensils.

  

 

 

It even had a washing machine

that doubles as a clothes dryer.

 

The beautiful Moorish- Mediterranean

inspired living room was just as spacious.

 

It had a huge comfy sofa, perfect for siesta lazing, and

also large enough to double as a bed for an extra guest.

 

There is another sofa bed that could

be converted to another king sized.

 

At one side of the living room

a lovely cast- iron fireplace.

 

There is also a corner table that had several 
books in it, and a flat screen TV just right above.

 

The living room had a large balcony.

 

...with the view of the neighboring ancient buildings.

The stairway serves as a divider

for living and the dining rooms,

 

 

…that leads to a spacious

landing at the upper floor.

 

 

There are two bedrooms at the upper floor.

First is the large main bedroom that had a

large and very comfortable king sized bed.

It was very spacious and was very beautiful,

…and had a balcony that had nice

a view of the old town of Caceres.

It was a huge room with a spacious

closet, and  large vanity area.

 

The smaller second room has two single beds,

 

…and moderately sized closets,

 

...and a small glass floored courtyard.

The apartment had two toilets,

The one in the upper floor first

is very beautiful and luxurious. 

 

…It has twin water closets,

…an awesome bathtub that

also serves as the shower area.

It was provided with plush amenities,

…and sufficient toiletries.

There is another smaller

toilet  at the lower level,

 

…had a nice shower area,

 

…and also provided with sufficient toiletries.

 

 

A huge room had three landline phones- one 
in the living room the kitchen and if I remember

right, another one in the master's  bedroom.

We were very happy with the very fast

and complimentary Wi Fi connection.

Stray

Encanto Apartamentos Turisticos, is located

right at the old town of ancient city of Caceres,

…few stets away from the plaza Mayor,

 

..and a walking distance,

 

... to most of the main tourist attractions. 

 

Play

Encanto Apartamentos Turisticos, is an apartment

set in 17^th century building located in the heart of a

UNESCO Heritage Site so guests should not expect

a swimming pool or a gym and other leisure facilities.

But the awesome apartment and it’s perfect

location compensates for this minor deficiency.

The apartment hosts provided 
books for leisure reading,

 

…and even a domino set in the living room.

Feast

Encanto Apartamentos Turisticos, being an apartment facility,
does not have an in house restaurant, but it is just few steps away 
from the Plaza Mayor that hosts a number of awesome restaurants,

….offering varied local,

…and international cuisine.

It is also located beside

Charcutteria Mostarzo,

 

…a Spanish supermarket that sells

a wide array of hams and sausages,

…and since the apartment

has well equipped kitchen,

 

….feasting on home- cooked local

dishes is easy and very convenient.

Encanto Apartamentos Turisticos, is a tidy,

beautiful, and well- equipped yet, very  affordable

apartment for those traveling on a budget in Caceres.

 

It is located right at the heart of the

old town, a UNESCO Heritage Site ,

…just few few steps from the Plaza Mayor,

…and a walking distance to almost

all the popular attractions on the city.

 

The apartment was spacious and had

everything we need to feel at home. 

 

Our host Gregory, welcomed us upon arriving

in Caceres, was very friendly, accommodating 

 

We tremendously enjoyed Caceres

because we had a beautiful apartment

to come home to at the end of the day.
