Jollibee, Naga-Panganiban: #burgersad but #chickensad no more

Jollibee, Naga-Panganiban
#burgersad but #chickensad no more

If there is one thing that could ruin a pre-planned family dinner is when
a popular fast food chain launches new toys for their kiddie meal deals.

Any parent wouldn’t be able to say no, and break a young child’s  heart when
they wish to have the latest free toys that goes together with the kiddie meal.

That’s exactly what happened on a weekend that made us dine once
again at Jollibee for the Tom and Gerry toys on their kiddie meals.

There were three toys available so we were given three choices which turned out to be
very difficult as we never really liked the dishes included on the meal. We finally
chose two burgers as we decided to give them to the street kids at the a parking area.

My son decided to have Chicken Joy for the third
Kiddie Meal,  not that he likes this salty joyless looking
chicken,  but there’s  really nothing he can do about it-
as it was the best choice that this meal deal could offer.
Although the popular chicken dish was already available,
it still looked unappetizing, and tasted rubberry and briny
The #chickensad tagline was real and lasting after all.

The only edible dishes in Jollibee are their big burgers,
but they were not available, making us #burgersad.

…so was our favorite Peach Mango Pie
and made us #peachmangopiesad..

No one had the appetite to their other uninteresting
offerings so  we settled for the French Fries,

.... and small servings of Sundae so we would have
something to eat while my son finishes his chicken.

We went home hungry, but at least Jollibee made my young
son happy with his  precious loot of Tom and Jerry toys.

Who are we, (adults) to complain?

Sbarro, SM City Naga

SBARRO, SM City Naga
A Sbarro a Day, Feeds the Family  Everyday.

The best thing that ever happened to Naga City after
the devastation of Typhoon Glenda is the opening  of the
very first SBARRO Store in Bicol at SM City Naga.

My family is a big fan of Sbarro and we always take
the chance of dining in the restaurant whenever we see
one wherever we are either in the Philippines or abroad.

We never really tried dining at the SM City Naga
foodcourt in the past as it was always overcrowded
and noisy, but there is really not much that we can do
since our favorite restaurant opened its very first outlet
in the city, in our least favorite dining area in the mall.

Fortunately, Sbarro’s Naga offers a complete menu,
despite being not a full restaurant located in a food court.

But we could always order our food to go-
so enjoying a Sbarro’s  delicious pizza and
pasta specialties in Naga, despite not having a
comfortable dining area, is not a problem at all.
I could always enjoy them at home or in my clinic.

They do not deliver yet, so I added an additional task to my
clinic assistants to buy me a Sbarro’s meal almost everyday

Our day is not complete without having a Sbarro’s
either for snacks or lunch, and their White Pizza,
which is made of perfectly blended ricotta and
mozzarella, and lightly flavored with garlic is a
delicious way to refuel at work and keep you going.

Sbarro’s Pepperoni Pizza is must as it has generous
toppings of Pepperoni, made from original Sbarro
recipe,  lying on a thick and chewy mozzarella bed.

Sbarro’s Cheese Pizza is uniquely made of whole milk
that blended well with the mozzarella cheese and made
it so rich and creamy . It tastes so good and the velvety
toppings sticks in your palate, so you get  to savor the
delightfully pungent cheese aftertaste in every bite.

If the plain cheese pizza is not enough, Sbarro’s
Four Cheese Pizza topped with  mozzarella,
parmesan, ricotta and cheddar deliciously blending
together for a perfectly delightful cheesy overload.

Sbarro’s is also popular for their humongous stuffed
pizzas  and are perfect for lunch or dinner. Our favorite
is of course the Sausage and Pepperoni Stuffed Pizza,
that comes generously packed, bursting at the seams
with mozzarella, Italian sausage, pepperoni, Romano
cheese and flavored with various herbs and spices.

Another stuffed pizza favorite is the Chicago White,
a mouth-watering pizza brimming with the perfectly
blended flavors of mozzarella, pepperoni, ham, ricotta
and had a precise tangy sweetness of pineapples.

For a real stuffed pizza overload no one can beat
Supereme Stuffed Pizza, filled with generous stuffing
of mozzarella, Italian sausage, onions,  bell peppers,
mushrooms and pepperoni. You would get into a
glutinous high as the pizza was  heaping with an
overabundance of indescribably wonderful flavors.

To sate everybody's enormous hungry pizza appetite, only Sbarro's
could fill a humongous desire for a delicious pizza by taking out
their giant pizza big enough to feed a traditionally big Pinoy  family.

The best tasting al dente Spaghetti in town is from
Sbarros. Who could ever say no to a firm, perfectly
cooked Italian spaghetti topped with thick,  rich tomato
sauce where one could  actually bite the  bits  and pieces
of fresh tomatoes flavored with various herbs and spices?

This Spaghetti is also available topped
with special recipe meat sauce, also
flavored  with various herbs and spices
and served with huge, tasty meatball on top.

Their Pasta Alfredo looked plain as the pasta
was topped with nothing but with the creamy
classic Alfredo sauce but still tasted great.

All Sbarro’s pastas are served with
their signature yummy Garlic Bread.

Recently I have read an interesting article
published  in the web about a guy Guy who
ate nothing but pizza for the last 25 years.

That’s no big deal. I can do the same thing, as
long as it's from Sbarro, I could eat it for life.

Grissini Ristorante:An Authentic Taste of Italy in Magsaysay Strip

Grissini Ristorante at Cereza, Naga City
An Authentic Taste of Italy in Magsaysay Strip

It took us sometime to dine in this wonderful
Italian Restaurant at the Cereza in Naga City.

Dining in Grissini Ristorante is like being
transported to a quaint Italian restaurant,

…the rustic European ambiance was made
more dramatic (and romantic) with the tune
of  ‘O Sole Mio” being  played on the stereo.

The aromatic smell of herb a spices blending with the
mélange  of wonderful scents coming from the dishes being
cooked in the open kitchen was a feast for the senses.

The scent of freshly baked Di Focaccia bread
coming from the wood fed oven made our hungry
stomachs crave for the tasty Italian flatbread.

Luckily, the waiter was fast enough to serve
the  complimentary bread with a dipping sauce
made of a  mixture of olive oil  and soy while
we were browsing the menu for our orders.

We started our Italian dinner with a tasty appetizer
called Carpaccio di Manzo. It is made of thinly
sliced raw beef, lightly flavored with olive oil, a
dash of lemon and sprinkled with parmesan cheese

It was followed by Crema Di Funghi or classic
mushroom soup. The soup had a delicious mushy
thickness and one can actually feel and taste the
small bits a pieces of  mushrooms on the soup.

Being Filipinos, rice is a staple food for us in any meal
and we had Risotto Con Funghi. This delicious Italian
rice concoction, was sprinkled with fresh  mushrooms,
flavored with a tasty pungent aftertaste of parmesan
cheese, and spiced up with delightfully aromatic herbs.

Of course, we never fail to order fish and chips in any
restaurant whenever it is available in the menu and
it is called Frito Di Pesce Con Patatine in Grissini.

The fish was fried to delicious perfection but, I would like
to have and special mention about the chips as it was so
tasty but not salty, it was chewy but very crispy. Should
this Grissini Potato Chips be sold commercially, it would
put even our favorite Lay’s Classic Potato Chips to shame.

Any dinner is never complete without a fish dish and
the deliciously tangy Salmone Rosa or Pink Salmon
flavored with lemon caper sauce was a perfect choice.

Grissini is also a haven for Italian pasta dishes and
their Pasta Alfredo is one of the best versions in town.
It was topped with creamy Classic Alfredo sauce,
made tastier with the piquant flavor of mustard, that
perfectly blends with the sharpness of smoked ham
and sprinkled spinach tagliatelle and aromatic herbs.

They have huge servings Lasgana Al Ragu,
where each lasagna layer was generously filled
with béchamel and rich and thick meat sauce.

We ended our dinner with their addicting
Mousse Di Cioccolata, where they topped
the very delicious chocolate mousse with
cream, choco flakes and fresh strawberries.

We also ordered their popular Profituale or
cream puffs but it was not available. The waiter
suggested for this new luscious dessert fare
whose name I could not recall,  but with a
heavenly creamy taste one would never forget.

Grissini Ristorante is a delicious way to experience
authentic culinary treasures of Italy without having
to travel far and without having to spend a fortune.
