Edgardo’s Sinangag Plaza: 24/7 Pinoy Breakfast at Centro Square

Edgardo's Sinangag Plaza
24/7 Pinoy Breakfast at Centro Square

Edgardo’s Sinangag Plaza originated from Camarines Norte
and recently opened a branch in Centro Square in Naga City.

Centro Square is a huge dormitory/hotel and business complex
so it is understandable why the restaurant is always full packed,

…as it is affordable and has captive costumers like in- house
hotel guests and students staying in the dormitory, as well as
from the nearby Universidad de Sta Isabel and Ateneo de Naga.

There is really nothing extraordinary in Edgardo’s Sinangag Plaza
as the restaurant serves nothing but generic Pinoy breakfast combo,

…like Tosilog that stands for a rice meal with
tocino, sinangag (fried rice) and itlog (egg),

Porksilog (pork chop, sinangag and itlog),

Bangsilog (Bangus or milkfish, sinangag and itlog)

Hotsilog (Hotdogs sinangag and itlog),

…and Shanghaisilog ( Lumpia Shanghai, sinangag and itlog)

Being named as sinangag plaza, I was expecting
a variety of fried rice dishes, yet they have nothing
but an unexciting soy- sauce based, garlic fried rice.

The servings were generous and filling and  for
75 pesos per set meal, it is very budget friendly.

Jannah’s Mini Homemade Donut: CamNorte’s Best Tasting Donuts

Jannah’s Mini Homemade Donut
CamNorte’s Best Tasting Donuts

I love homemade donuts and I once featured the best
tasting home made donuts in Naga City in this blog
(LINK HERE). For some unknown reasons, the store
had stopped producing these yummy donuts  lately.

Just as I thought I would never had a chance to taste
these classic homemade donuts, a patient from Daet
brought me ‘mini donuts’ from Jannah’s Pasalubong,

…which according to the label is
from Vinzons, Camarines Norte.

It tasted exactly like the delicious homemade sugar raised donuts that
I have raved in my past blog,   and craved for a long time and I was
already losing hope that I would never be able to taste it again- until now.

The mini donut is a little bit larger than the munchkins,
it was plump that the donut hole was non- existent
and appeared nothing like a small surface indentation.

It is dense and chewy to the bite, and a  flavorful explosion
of creamy, milky with  light custard aftertaste fills you mouth,

…and would make you crave for more.

Jannah’s Mini Homemade Donut from
Jannah’s Pasalubong is definitely the
best tasting homemade donuts in Bicol.

Mongkok Daet: Glorious Chinese Cuisine

Mongkok, Glorious Chinese Cuisine
Daet, Camarines Norte

I was again invited for a talk on a medical round table
forum for the Camarines Norte Medical Society .

This is the third time that I had a talk in a year with this
wonderful group of doctors, which in my experience,
have  always  been a great and interactive audience.

I always look forward to in coming to   this  progressive town
as I always discover  a  new culinary treasure in every visit.

It was on my fist speaking engagement  that I had the chance to enjoy one of the
best seafood restaurants in the region,  Catherine’s Restaurant in Bagasbas.

Just a few months ago, I had another  lecture in TerraceGrill located at the
town center and discovered one  of the best tasting Caldereta in the region.

This time, it is in Mongkok Daet.

It is a popular   Manila based Chinese restaurant and
it is  the one and only branch in the Bicol Region.

The first floor was a restaurant,

…and there is a small function room in the
second floor where I would have a talk.

 It was decorated with several
beautiful Chinese artworks.

To describe the food in Mongkok
as delicious is an understatement.
Everything was very, very delicious to an infinite
degree if there is such a superlative description.

From the exotic Birds’s Nest Soup,

 the addicting assorted Dimsum Platter,

…the flavorful Crispy Noodles topped with
fresh vegetables, mushrooms and shrimps,

… the succulent Soya Fish Fillet,

 …the divine Lemon Chicken,

 …the tangy Schezuan Pork,

 …and the healthy but tasty
Brocolli Topped with Shirmps.

There was just too much food on the table,
and I was speaking on a  post lunch round
table symposium, that I thought my audience
would fall asleep during my lecture.

 Thankfully, the delicious and healthy
Mongkok dishes may have fueled everyone's
brain cells for full alertness and attention.

I can’t wait to have another
speaking engagement in Daet.

Terrace Grill. Daet Camarines Norte

Terrace Grill’s Calderetta
Daet, Camarines Norte

After a scenic and leisurely drive from Naga City,
we arrived at Terrace Grill in Daet, Camarines Norte,

…where I was scheduled to have
a talk in a lunch time symposium.

We arrived a little early, just in time when
the participants were starting to arrive,

…so it gave me more time to take
photos of  the venue,

...which is part of a dining complex
located just in front of the huge mall.

The lunch was served in a buffet,
but I decided not to eat yet as I didn’t
want to feel puffy during the lecture.

It was more of a working lunch as I had
my talk while the participants were eating.

I was already starving after the lecture,
and I checked out what was left on the buffet.

The Nido Soup was almost drained, and
I didn’t find it appetizing, so I skipped it.

The Buttered Fried Chicken was almost untouched
so I presumed it was not delicious, so I also skipped it.

I took a scoop of the Mixed Vegetable
that looked like a Chop Suey and had
seafood on it. It was very delicious.

I had several servings of the Sweet and Sour Fish,
as it was very delicious, and made me wonder why
just like the chicken  it was almost left untouched.

I really didn’t want to touch and even try
the Kaldereta leftover as it looked so gross
and appeared like a pool of oil laden fecal matter,
but our host encouraged me to try it as it was the
specialty of the house and it is one of the reasons
why they booked the lecture in the restaurant.

I reluctantly tired the Kaldereta by topping a
plateful of rice and indeed- it was so delicious that
I finished three servings of Kaldereta topped rice.
