Đại Nam Văn Hiến, Theme Park; Binh Duong, Vietnam.

 Đại Nam Văn Hiến
The Theme Park
Binh Duong, Vietnam.

Stray, Play and Feast

Stray and Play

Dai Nam is a huge tourism complex
located about two hours away by taxi ride
from Ho Chi Minh City.

Being a family traveler,
Amusement Parks have always
been a part of our itinerary …

…and Dai Nam was on our must visit list
in Vietnam to keep the kids entertained,

…and as a break from
the mostly cultural attractions
being offered in Vietnam.

It is a huge complex
composed of four Amusement Parks...

…a man made Water Park
called the Beach, which we skipped
as we did not intend to swim,

…the Dai Nam Zoo,

…and the Magnificent
Dai Nam Temple.

Play
The Dai Nam Theme Park

Our first stop was Dai Nam Theme Park
which is Vietnam’s answer to Disneyland
and offers various rides,

...roller coasters and water rides,

We spent the whole morning
straying in the huge complex.

The music that was being played in the park
sounded too ethnic and too drab for a theme park.

I don’t know how to describe it
but something was lacking in the theme park…

The mood was very somber and dull.
It could be that there were very few people around.

…and no matter how we try to get the kids excited
- they never seem to get interested with the rides.

This is huge and impressive
theme park alright,

…despite with all the numerous
thrill rides being offered by the park…

….it fails to awaken the child in us.
and fails to excite us the way
theme parks are supposed to do.

You do not feel the magic
that you feel in Disneyland,

…not even the enchantment that we feel
in our very own Enchanted Kingdom
in the Philippines.

Feast

There were several
wonderful restaurants in the park.

We decided to dine with the one
that served authentic Vietnamese Cuisine

We were the only people in the restaurant.
the staff could not speak English
and the menu was in Vietnamese.

So, we ordered using
universal terms like Fish,

...Chicken, that was served
with everything on it
head, tail, and feet.

...Vegetables.

  1. Thank you for the compliments. I am a doctor by profession. I am neither a professional writer nor a very good blogger so I wasn’t expecting and not deserving this kind of flattering remark.

This post was a little bit negative though but it does not reflect my general sentiment on our visit to Vietnam.

We enjoyed the Temple and the Zoo in Dai Nam and most of the attractions in Ho Chi Minh during our visit.

I hope you'll find time reading my other posts and enjoy then as well.

Again, thank you and I am flattered by your kind words.
