The Shanghai Tower: Shanghai’s Tallest Building (Getting High in Shanghai Series 8)

The Shanghai Tower
Shanghai’s Tallest Building
Getting High in Shanghai Series 8

A visit to the Shanghai Tower, one of the tallest buildings
in the world is the highlight of my family’s Pudong visit.

The tower when seen from below stands tall an proud
that some people sees it as a fully erect phallic symbol.

Built in 2008 and opened to visitors in 2016,

....the Shanghai Tower is a 128-story, is the
world’s second tallest building at 2,073 ft.

Guests are shuttled to the world's second fastest elevators
at a top speed of 20.5 meters per second or about 74 km/h-

…to the world's highest observation deck within a building,

… that provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the city

.... and the neighboring suburbs.

It is the tallest of the world's first
triple-adjacent supertall buildings,

...and dwarfs the other two nearby
 skyscrapers, the Jin Mao Tower,

…the Shanghai World Financial Centre,

...and even the Pearl TV Tower.

The observation deck has its own atrium,

…cafés, restaurants,

... souvenir shops and even hotel rooms.

It is a not to be missed attraction
for anyone visiting Shanghai.

Pudong Riverwalk: Scenic Riverside Park (Getting High in Shanghai Series 7)

Pudong Riverwalk
Scenic Riverside Park
Getting High in Shanghai Series 7

The Pudong Riverside Promenade and Park is
a 2.5-kilometer walk at the Huangpu Riverside.

The park stretches from Dongchang Road,

in the south to Taidong Road in the north,

…and this scenic promenade is popular with both
locals and tourists who flock here to enjoy so
peace and quiet amidst well manicured gardens.

The Pudong Riverwalk is one of the best places to
view some of the Shanghai’s architectural wonders,

…such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower,

…the Shanghai World Financial Center and Jin Mao Tower.

This scenic strip is also s filled
with food kiosks  and restaurants

…and an awesome view of The Bund,
on the other side of the Huangpu River.

The promenade is the perfect place for people watching-

...as it is where the tourists and locals converge.

...for recreation, dining or simply to enjoy the view.

The Pearl Tower Shanghai’s Icon Upclose (Getting High in Shanghai Series 6)

The Pearl Tower
Shanghai’s Icon Upclose
(Getting High in Shanghai Series 6

When alighted from the Lujizui Metro,
the Oriental Pearl Tower was the very
first structure that caught our eyes-

…and we paused to take photos with
the iconic tower in the background.

The Oriental Pearl Radio & Television Tower  located at
the fas  growing new center of  Pudong It was built 1991 and
completed in 1994, and was the tallest structure in China until it
was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center in 2007.

The tower is supported by three enormous columns,

… had a total of 11 spheres with two largest
spheres aligned along the length of the tower,

According to most accounts, the tower has fifteen observatory levels.
with the highest post at 1148 feet and known as the Space Module.

There is a revolving restaurant, exhibition facilities, a shopping center
and even a hotel called the Space Hotel between the two large spheres.

The Oriental Pearl Radio & Television Tower is probably
the most recognizable structure that symbolizes Shanghai.
