St. Giles Hotel: Affordable and Comfortable

St. Giles Hotel
Affordable and Comfortable

We came to Manila for a French visa appointment and
when I googled the nearest hotel to the French Embassy
the St. Giles Hotel came in to be the closest in the map.
We booked two rooms but little did we know that the visa
processing is not being done at the embassy anymore but
done by a subcontractor located near the Magallanes area.

We arrived after a very short plane ride from Naga City,
but a dreadful three hour drive from the airport to the hotel
due to the horrendous late afternoon metro wide  traffic.
The hotel  had a beautiful, and very elegant lobby.

The people at the front desk  were very friendly,
and it took us awhile to check in as we requested
for an interconnected room but it was not available.

..and we were on our  way to our room at the 32nd floor.

Stay

We were booked to two De Luxe Rooms,

…both were apparently their
largest available guest rooms.

Both had two twin beds,

…they were firm and very comfortable.

Both rooms had a huge flat screen TVs,

..a transparent glass- topped
working and reading desks.

Both rooms had spacious closets with bathrobes,
slippers, weighing scale and an electronic safe.

It had a kettle for a coffee maker at the minibar,

…and a small refrigerator.

Room 3216 had a moderately sized toilet,

…while 3217 had a really
small and cramped toilet.

…both had bathtubs

...that doubles as a shower area.

Both bathrooms were provided with basic amenities,

….and sufficient toiletries.

Both rooms had panoramic glass windows
with a magnificent view if Makati skyline,

…that turns to a breathtaking sight at night.

Both rooms had two landline
phones one  at the bedside,

…and another at the toilet.

The Wi Fi connection was
complimentary but rather slow.

Stray

The St. Giles Hotel is located at the corner of Makati Avenue
and Kalayaan Avenue, amidst the  hustle and bustle of the
chaotic and distressing  Makati’s Central Business Disrtrict,

We chose this hotel as it was just few blocks away from the
French Embassy, where we were referred by the Greek Embassy
to apply as it was our port of entry for our European tour this.May
It was a mistake- the French Visa processing is done not at
the embassy but somewhere else near Magallanes in Makati.

Play

The St. Giles Hotel’s had superb leisure
facility like the beautiful roof- top pool,

…and a roof- top gym, overlooking the pool,
and the fantastic view of the modern Makati skyline

Feast

Bayleaf RestoBar

The breakfast buffet is served in Bayleaf, the hotel’s
only in- house restaurant located at the second floor.
.

We found the restaurant too dark due to poor lighting

…but t serves a decent spread in the breakfast buffet,

...and also serves delicious meals all day.

The St. Giles Hotel Makati is a part of an international
budget hotel chain with branches around the world.

It had superb leisure facility like the beautiful
roof- top pool and gym, overlooking the pool,
with fantastic view of the Makati skyline

The rooms a clean, comfortable- and spacious.

The best thing in this hotel are the beds, which reminded us
of the very comfortable beds at Holiday Inn Disney Springs.
They are snug yet comfy and assures one of a very relaxing sleep.

This hotel is not the best place to stay for families traveling
with young children as it is located close to a place that looked
like a red light district with lots of seedy clubs and girlie bars.

The dimly lit in- house  Bayleaf Restobar appears like a sleazy
place at night where lots of foreign male guests hang around
with their well- painted, fake blonde haired Filipina partners .
