Pulsar Hotel Tuguegarao: Good Food, Good Service

Pulsar Hotel Tuguegarao
Good Food, Good Service
Tuguegarao, Cagayan Series 1

 Stay

My family arrived at about 3:15 PM in
Tuguegarao, after a second morning flight
from Naga City and about two hour stop-
over in NAIA Terminal 3 in Manila.

A Pulsar Hotel van service,
picked us up from the airport,

…and off we went to what according
to most travel agents, the newest hotel
that is located in Penablanca, a town
that lies in the periphery of Tuguegarao.

It was everybody’s first time in Cagayan Province and
I found it rather difficult to find a good hotel in the city,

…that I relied on the net to get information I needed
on different hotel web pages before  we checked in-
that I initially booked at the nearby Valley Hotel.

I was told by my travel agent that
the best the city could offer is Pulzar,

…as the hotel less than two years  old
and apparently the newest in the city,
sio I immediately changed my booking.

Pulsar Hotel would be our home
in Tuguegarao for the next six days.

There was nothing fancy on hotel lobby,

…it had very basic furnishings of comfy sofas,

… coffee tables with rattan chairs,.

...and a grand piano.

Pulsar staff from the driver, to the lobby ushers
were very helpful, friendly and courteous and
the front desk staff was efficient and helpful.

 Checking in was a breeze
and we were in our room in a jiffy.

It was a Executive Twin, the biggest
and apparently the best they have.

The hotel does not have an elevator and
our room is located right above the stairs,

 …and right beside the lovely
second floor receiving area.

It has two queen sized bed that would fit
the four of us (two adults and two kids),

…a flat screen TV,

…in front of a huge sofa that
could serve as an extra bed,

...a full size vanity mirror,

…a coffee table and chairs at the corner of the room
that could serve as a working table at the same time.

It a had a mini bar, with electric kettle
coffee and sugar sachets, and a refrigerator.

It had a huge bathroom,
a nice shower area,

…an elevated bathtub,

…double lavatories,

…and decent supply of toiletries.

It had a single telephone in the room,

…and a free but rather very slow Wi Fi internet connection
that bored the kids so much due to slow downloading..

It also had a spacious closet.

The room had a balcony but unfortunately had a very limited
view and one can only see most of  the hotel’s first floor rooftop.

It was also pretty hot as it is  where
the room aircon’s exhaust was located.

The room is not something I would excitedly
rave and rant, but it was a spacious, clean and
 a comfortable air- conditioned room,

…an acceptable budget accommodation
for my family for the next six days in the city.

Stray

Pulsar Hotel is located in Penablanca town,

…and there is really nothing much to see within the hotel
except for the very busy highway. and it is  walking
distance to the Cagayan Provincial Capitol.

…and connected to a Total Gas Station.

It also had a convenience store that interestingly
closes inconveniently very early at 7 PM.

Play

There is really nothing much to do in the hotel
there is no swimming pool, but my young son
had a great time swimming in the bath tub.

Luckily, they aired a live pay per view for free
the Pacquiao- Bradley fight right in our room
and kept us entertained on our last day at the hotel.

Feast

Café Asuncion,

Set breakfast for checked in guests
is  available at Café Asuncion,

…but since one could have an option to have
it delivered at room service, we have decided
to take all our breakfasts in our room.

The choices are pretty limited from
Daingsilog, Tapsilog and Cornsilog
(the latter was never available though).

The Longsilog, that is actually made
of Tugegarao Longaniza is so delicious.

It was our first time to taste the city’s famous longaniza
and this non sweetened and non greasy version is a welcome
change as compared to regular longanizas in the market
that are horribly sweet and tasting like meat candies.

Café Asuncion, also offers good selection
of local and Filipino cuisine in their menu,

…and one restaurant that I could endorse
for someone  looking for local specialties,

…as they serve delicious and affordable food.
This restaurant would a subject on my future
blog in this on going Tuguegarao Series.

Room Service.

Pulsar Hotel’s room service is also catered by Café Asuncion,
that gave us our first taste of the famous Pancit Batil Patong,

….and they have a wide selection of delicious
Vegetable, Meat and Seafood dishes.

Just like in their restaurant in- dining,
they are delicious very, very affordable.

Recommendations;

I would definitely recommend this hotel to families
traveling with young children in Tuguegarao
as the rooms are spacious, tidy and budget friendly.

Just don’t expect too much as there is nothing
fancy in this hotel and it would provide one
with basic, clean and affordable accommodation.

The food is good and affordable
while the set breakfast is fine.

There are several minor flaws in the hotel though
but we really didn’t mind as the staff were friendly ,
helpful and even apologetic for any minor inconvenience.

The Executive Twin is spacious and but with
rather outdated interior design considering
that the hotel is less than two years old.

There is no working desk despite the extra space
in the room. All they have is just a coffee table and
uncomfortable chairs tucked in one corner of the room.

They have a rather very slow
internet in- room connection.

Otherwise, Pulsar Hotel is an affordable,
comfortable, reasonably priced and
inexpensive hotel with excellent service.

I wouldn’t mind staying here again
unless a four or five star hotel opens
up in Tuguegarao in the near future.
